RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- After three losses in a row, Flamengo made a solid performance on Saturday in their match against Santo Andre.
The 3-0 win helped Flamengo's head coach Andrade secure his job.
Flamengo scored their first goal in the 7th minute. Off a corner kick, Petkovic sent the ball towards the first goalpost. The defense was able to redirect the ball, but Flamengo's Denis Marques was able to pick up the loose ball and tap it into the net. The team scored again in stoppage time of the first half. Off a penalty kick, Leo Moura fired the ball into the upper right-hand corner of the Santo Andre net, giving his team a comfortable lead heading into halftime.
Flamengo scored one last time before the game was over. Their third goal came in stoppage time of the second half. Petkovic shot a ball that ricocheted off the goal post and found its way to Ze Roberto who then pushed the ball into the net to end the game.
With their win, Flamengo jumps four places in the rankings and currently stands in 10th place with 30 points. However, the team's standings may be altered by Sunday's matches, concluding the 22nd round of play in the Brazilian Championship. Santo Andre dropped to 16th place with 24 points.
