MADRID, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid winger Arjen Robben explained his decision to dedicate the goal he scored against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night to teammate Wesley Sneijder.
Robben scored the second of the game as Madrid romped to a 5-0 win in Germany in a match to celebrate Dortmund's centenary.
Esteban Granero, Gonzalo Higuain, Kaka and Raul scored the remaining goals, but Robben's was the standout effort.
Reports in Spain say he will not be leaving Real Madrid this season, but it is thought that Sneijder will not play again as the club looks to force him to accept a move to Inter Milan.
Robben said, however, that his dedication was not a message to the club.
"I dedicated the goal to Wesley, because he is my friend, nothing more than that," he told sports paper Diario AS.
The Dutch international was unwilling to discuss his future with Real Madrid.
"I know nothing about it, it depends on the club, if they want to sell me, then they have 10 days to do so, but I would rather stay," he explained.
"I am very happy here and I have a lot of confidence in the new season that we are about to kick off."
"It is looking good; we are improving in defense and also in attack. We have to be organized in our play and defend well," said Robben.
