RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian soccer giant Flamengo decided to keep their striker Emerson, rejecting an offer from United Arab Emirates' club Al-Ahly.
"The proposal came to Flamengo. We analyzed it and we rejected it. It was a proposal that deserved to be respected, but it did not satisfy the club," team director Marcos Braz said on Tuesday.
The offer was estimated to be worth nearly 3 million U.S. dollars.
Emerson said that he was fulfilling a dream playing for Flamengo.
Flamengo will have their next challenge in the Brazilian Championship on Aug. 20, hosting Cruzeiro at the Maracana stadium in the 20th round of play.
