Lin Dan fails to get semi finals, Lu Lan and Cai/Fu move forward

JAKARTA, June 19 (Xinhua) -- The highly-expected Chinese single player to win the Indonesia Open 2009 Lin Dan failed to get a place in semi finals after being ousted by his compatriot Chen Jinin three games held here on Friday evening.

After securing a win in the first game, Lin Dan, the world's number three single player, finally gave up to Chen Jin, the number six player, in three games that took almost one hour. The match ended in 2118, 1721 and 214.

Becoming the China's highest-ranked shuttler in Men's single, Lin Dan is the much-expected one to win the super series in Indonesia since no single Chinese single player won the tournament in the last 20 years after Xiong Guobao in 1989.

In the semi final, Chen Jin would take on the winner of the match contending Malaysian Lee Chong Wei, the world's number one, and Park Sung Hwan from South Korea.

Meanwhile, Lu Lan, the world's number seven Women's single player ousted Wang Yihan, the number two player in an exhausting three games that ended 2110, 1121 and 2220.

In another court, the number five Men's double Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng successfully finished the match in two games 2114 and 2114 after trashed out their American contender Howard Bach/Tony Gunawan.
