Real Madrid sells defender Torres to Getafe

MADRID, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid sold utility defender Miguel Torres to fellow Primera Liga outfit Getafe this Monday.

The 23-year-old product of the Real Madrid youth system has agreed a five-year-deal with Getafe, a club based just to the South of Madrid, while Getafe has paid two million euros for his services.

Real Madrid has reserved an option to buy Torres back during his first two seasons at his new club.

Torres is the sixth product of the Real youth system to leave the club this summer, following the likes of Javi Garcia and Alvaro Negredo out of the door, casting further doubt onto club President Florentino Perez's treatment of players who come up through the ranks.

The last player to become a first team regular at Real Madrid after playing for the club's youth teams was goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who has been first choice keeper for the past 10 years.

Torres made 53 league appearances for his former club in three seasons with the first team.
