RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Hosting Coritiba at the Maracana stadium, Flamengo put on an offensive display on Sunday that led to their 3-0 victory.
The game was valid for the 25th round of play in this year's Brazilian soccer championship.
Flamengo scored their first goal of the night in the 33rd minute off a stopped ball. Petkovic took the kick just outside of the penalty box and sent it into the upper right corner of the Coritiba goal.
Flamengo scored again in the 56th minute when Petkovic passed an excellent ball off to Adriano who then wasted no time in blasting the ball past Coritiba's goalkeeper Michel Bastos, scoring his 13th goal of this year's competition.
The team's third and last goal of the match came in the 82nd minute when Willians took advantage of a loose ball and sent it into the back of the net.
Flamengo's win takes them to eighth place with 37 points and rekindles the club's hope to place among the top-four teams and qualifying for the 2010 Libertadores Cup.
For Coritiba, the loss drops them to 15th place with 27 points.
