Henry to skip France's World Cup qualifier due to injury

PARIS, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- French star striker Thierry Henry has pulled out of the country's national soccer squad for Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands due to an injury.

The French Football Federation (FFF) announced it in a brief statement on Monday, declining to specify the nature of the in jury but saying the squad would not call up a replacement.

Coach Raymond Domenech, whose team lies second in Group Seven with 10 points from five matches, now has 21 players for Wednesday's game in Torshavn.

The Group Seven leaders Serbia have 18 points after seven games, while the Faroe Islands are bottom of the group with one point from five games.

According to Barcelona club's website, Henry cannot travel with France because of pain in both Achilles tendons.
