Fluminense reassumes last place after draw against Barueri

RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Amid boos and constant crowd dissatisfaction, Fluminense ended Sunday's match against Barueri in a 0-0 draw.

The result dropped Fluminense into dead last place in this year's Brazilian Championship, causing the home crowd to incessantly demonstrate their frustration.

"We needed a victory. However, Barueri came at us with all they had and did not want to give up. It is hard to talk about such a low moment inside of the club, but we will find a way to get out of our situation. We are now going to focus on finally producing a win," commented Fluminense's striker, Kieza.

Fluminense currently occupies 20th and last place with 16 points. Barueri continues to surprise teams in the Brazilian Championship by standing in 8th place with 32 points.

Barueri returns to action on August 26 when they host Corinthians in the 22nd round of play. Fluminense will play on August 26 in the South American Cup when they face Flamengo in the return leg at the Maracana stadium.

After their inter-city match, Fluminense will travel to Santos in the 22nd round of the Brazilian Championship on August 30.
