RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Corinthians soccer club officially announced their signing on Tuesday of the Argentinean midfielder, Defederico.
The team conceded to offer the player's former Argentinean team, Huracan, a friendly match as well as an increase in payment.
Corinthians had to improve their offer to Huracan by 200,000 dollars. The original offer for the athlete and 80 percent of his rights stood at 4 million dollars. The club also had to cut their financial installments to Huracan from twelve to ten payments.
"We had to work out a couple wrinkles, but we can now say for sure that Defederico belongs to the Corinthians. The only thing missing is the paperwork so that we can put him on the field," declared the director of soccer for Corinthians, Mario Gobbi.
Corinthians plans on holding their friendly match against Huracan in early January of 2010. Defederico may be cleared to play as early as August 28.
