SANTIAGO, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- The players from the Chilean soccer club Colo Colo supported on Wednesday Colombian midfielder Macnelly Torres due to the strong criticism he received for the irregular campaign the club had during the local Clausura tournament.
"He has proved that he is an important player and we need him. He has all our support if things do not go in the way he wants. Here everybody has the responsibility, not only one player," midfielder Rodrigo Millar said in name of the players.
The local sports press said on Wednesday that Torres has requested leaving the club in advance due to the criticism made by the soccer fans and the strong doubts of the coaching team led by Argentine Hugo Tocalli.
The soccer fans think that Torres has not performed according to the expectations and the reasons why he was hired in 2008, when Colo Colo's directives paid 2.2 million U.S. dollars for his pass.
Blanco y Negro's (organization owner of Colo Colo) president, Gabriel Ruiz-Tagle met on Tuesday with Torres to analyze his present and future in the club.
"It was a meeting to clarify the scenery of a possible transfer, despite we do not want to fire him. That is framed on the planning we are doing for the coming championship," Ruiz-Tagel said.
Colo Colo said it will not allow Torres' transfer for less than5 million dollars and at any case before December.
