Chelsea renew contract with defender Mancienne

LONDON, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chelsea extended the contract with Michael Mancienne on Thursday but loaned the defender right then to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

According to the English Premier League club's website, the 21-year-old renewed his deal for four years and will spend the first season with the Wolves.

Mancienne also had a loan spell with the Premier League newcomers during their time in the Championship (second division).

Last year, Mancienne received a surprise call-up to England's squad for a friendly in Germany.
