MADRID, July 2 (Xinhua) -- It has already been a dizzying summer for any supporter of Real Madrid with the arrival of three star players, but the big name signings will create some problems at the club.
In just over a month since the return of Florentino Perez as club president, Real Madrid has broken the bank and torn the transfer market wide open.
Crisitiano Ronaldo and Kaka, two of the best players in the world, have been bought for a combined price of around 160 million euros, while Wednesday saw a lightening swoop to capture Lyon's exciting young striker Karim Benzema for a further 35 million euros.
Perez has also paid a further 15 million euros to capture defender Raul Albiol and more signings will arrive before the end of the summer.
Almost any coach in the world would want to have the array of attacking talent that Real Madrid now has, but the club will now have to sell players and that is not going to be easy.
Last January Real Madrid spent over 20 million euros on Dutch forward Klaas Jan Huntelaar, who scored eight goals in 20 appearances last season.
The arrival of Benzema and Ronaldo leaves him without a place in the side and the 25-year-old will want to move.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy will also have to leave. The former Manchester United forward was Madrid's top scorer in his first two seasons at the club, but missed most of last season after suffering a knee injury.
He celebrated his 33rd birthday on Wednesday and despite his incredible goalscoring record, it is hard to see anyone paying much money for a veteran with a history of knee injuries.
It will also be hard to sell Arjen Robben for a satisfactory price. The Dutch winger has shown details of his skill, but his two years have been plagued by muscle injuries and nobody wants to pay the same price that Madrid spent to sign him from Chelsea.
Gonzalo Higuain is perhaps the player who will suffer the most following the arrivals of Ronaldo and Benzema. The Argentinian, who is only 21 years old, is one of the few players who has improved since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu.
He scored 22 league goals last season and was probably Madrid's best player on the campaign, but now the new arrivals relegate him to the bench and that will put a break on his progress. With the World Cup played next summer, Higuain needs to play if he is to form part of his country's plans for South Africa.
After almost 15 years in the first team, club captain Raul Gonzalez also has to accept that his place is on the bench, but the 32-year-old has a history of making life difficult for those who put his place in jeopardy.
The club also has to deal with players such as Royston Drenthe and Rafael Van der Vaart, both of whom had a disappointing season, while Wesley Sneidjer has already said that he does not want to be used in part exchange for anyone.
