MADRID, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo refused to be disappointed despite a disappointing home debut in for Real Madrid.

The most expensive player in the world played the first 66 minutes of Real Madrid's Peace Cup game against Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad. However, he played only a small part in a game that ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Real Madrid team was even booed by a section of the fans, but that was not enough to take away Ronaldo's optimism playing his first minutes of football at the home of his new club.

"I am very happy at the reception I got from the public. I liked the warmth of the Bernabeu. I feel loved here and I am happy with my performance," he told Real Madrid TV in the early hours of Monday morning.

The former Manchester United player said he was not too worried by the result against a side that Real Madrid should have beaten with ease.

"It's just an anecdote because we are in pre-season and we have only been training for a few weeks. Personally I ended the game feeling very tired."

"The important thing for us now is to get ourselves into shape before the start of the season, so we can start strongly," he explained.

Real Madrid started the game with Ronaldo and Karem Benzema in their line-up. However, they were still without Brazilian ace Kaka, who has just returned from his holidays. Ronaldo said has pleased with the way his partnership with Benzema had worked.

"I think we had a good understanding in all of the pitch and we have to remember that it is still pre-season and there is a lot to improve. I saw some good things and some bad things."

"We are still working on improving our strength and soon we will begin work on precision and on speed," he explained.
