RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- With three goals, Wellington Paulista led Cruzeiro to victory on Sunday against Nautico by the score of 4-2.
The stadium lights at the Mineirao stadium went out twice during the second half, reinforcing Pele's recent worries that not one Brazilian soccer stadium is fit to host any of the 2014 World Cup games as they stand now.
Wellington Paulista scored the first goal within the first 15 seconds of play. Crossing the ball in front of the Nautico net, Gilberto found a leaping Wellington Paulista who then headed the ball into the net.
Nautico responded quickly, tying the match in the 7th minute. Gil was charged for fouling Gilmar in the penalty box. The striker takes the kick and equals the score.
In the 30th minute, Cruzeiro would retake the lead when Fabricio blasted a shot from outside of the penalty box, surprising Nautico's goalie, Gledson.
Cruzeiro scored one more time before the half came to an end. Vagner was called for a foul inside the penalty box, leading to Wellington Paulista's successful penalty kick and his second goal of the game.
Both teams scored in stoppage time of the second half. Cruzeiro scored in the 3rd minute of stoppage time when Paulista headed in his third goal of the game. Nautico then scored in the 8th minute of stoppage time when Carlinhos Bala scored in front of the Cruzeiro net.
With their victory, Cruzeiro now has 27 points and stand in 12th place. Nautico remains in trouble as they sit in 17th place with 21 points.
